Anthony Medical Center (AMC) is one family physician richer with the arrival of Dr. Katie Cates Panakos, D.O., a board certified family medicine physician who, for the past seven years, has been practicing in Jefferson, Iowa. Cates Panakos, a native Kansan, grew up in Mulvane before attending medical school at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City. She then continued her residency in Wichita at Via Christi. After residency she worked at the Grace Med Clinic and then with Docs Who Care throughout Kansas before moving to Iowa and advancing her family medicine practice with her husband Constantine Panakos who is also a family medicine physician.
Currently she lives in Goddard, Kansas with her husband and two children, daughter, Izzy and son, Will. “I look forward to getting to know the people of Harper County, and am excited to join the AMC team. I enjoy providing comprehensive medical care to families and am happy to continue that in Anthony,” said Cates Panakos on joining the Anthony Primary Care Clinic (APCC). She enjoys spending time with her family, sewing, and crafting. “We are thrilled to add her into our medical family, she has a lot of experience and I am excited for the patients,” said Tonya Hekel, RN, Rural Health Clinic Manager.
“She is an impressive addition to our team and I believe that our patients will be able to easily relate to her. The staff is very excited to begin working with her,” said Kim Barwick, Human Resource Director at AMC. Cates Panakos joins the clinic team in April and will see infants to older adults for preventative healthcare to more serious conditions.
